September Happenings

Here's part of our group and some guests via the June workshop on self editing presented by Kaye Coppersmith (middle front row).
Our Sept. workshop will be all about marketing your book. Most writers can't stand the business end of the craft, but if you want to be successful at marketing your work, you have to put on your business cap like it or not. Author and savvy marketing pro Lorraine Harris will give us some great tips on how promote and sell your book to make it worth your hard earned efforts. When? Sept. 23. Time: 10:00 a.m. until noon. Where? Lady Lake Public Library on Guava St. This will be a closed workshop for FWA Registered members only and is part of your benefits as an FWA dues paying member. Please RSVP to moi, cocowriter@yahoo.com if you plan to attend. We usually fill the room to capacity for our workshops. Guests may return at our October meeting.
Congratulations to local member John Capone on his recent publishing of his book - Forgotten Peacekeepers. John served in the U.S. Army as an instructor for the U.S. Constabulary following WWII. Sunday's edition of The Daily Sun has the full lowdown (see section D-4)
That's it for this week. Got news? Shoot me an email and I'll place on the blog.

My name is Anthony Rao, I am the managing editor for FOCUS Magazine here in Lake County. We were wondering if any of wanted to help in a serial story called the SIx Hands we are publishing inside our magazine over the next few months. It's already begun, here is a link to the first part of the introduction. http://www.focuslakecounty.com/category/magazine/6-hands/
Basically we are looking for local writers such as yourself to help us continue the story by tackling one of the character's (Michael Green) relationships in a short (1400 word) installment of the story. The next part will be published in our April issue which you can find on stands or online here at FocusLakeCounty.com. Let me know if this is something of interest to you or any other writers you may know. Thanks and look forward to speaking with you soon.
