Editing Workshop June 24, 2010

Cartoon by Charles Schultz
This month our workshop will be presented by Kaye Coppersmith of Wordsworth Editing. Kaye facilitates the FWA editing services and is its senior editor. She will show you how to tighten and improve your writing, and will also teach you how to elicit emotional responses from readers. Self-editing is an ongoing process. The more you practice the methods, the more you're writing will improve.
The workshop will begin at 10:00 a.m. (until noon) at the Lady Lake Community bldg. adjacent to the Lady Lake Public Library parking lot. Coffee and soft drinks will be available and if we get enough donations, you just might enjoy some snacks as well. :) Okay, I have no shame. Can begging be considered an art form?? Oh well, whatever you can donate will be greatly appreciated by all. You da' best! Thanks. I really mean that!
You must be a registered FWA member to attend this workshop.
Guidelines have already been distributed for submitting your work and hopefully you've mailed off your 4 dbl. spaced pages to Kaye by the time your read this! :) You do not have to submit work in order to attend the workshop. We have 19 registered FWA members confirmed to attend. Therefore you will need to bring 19 copies of the work you've submitted so that every member attending will be able to participate in the workshop lesson. Suggestion: Might be cheaper if you get your copies done at Staples rather than use up your ink. The session will be informal and fun. Come schmooz with your fellow writer friends and learn to improve your writing as well. It's all good!
Writer quote for this week: Writing a book is an adventure. To begin with, it is a toy and an amusement. Then it becomes a mistress, then it becomes a master, then it becomes a tyrant. The last phase is that just as you are about to be reconciled to your servitude, you kill the monster and fling him to the public. - Winston Churchill
